ABOUT TO WED? 4 Things you shouldn’t be afraid of

From the cake to the wedding gown, the wedding hall to the bridal train, everything about a wedding these days is becoming lesser and lesser about the couple and more on other frivolities, which shouldn’t be so.

Societal pressure, family pressure and pressure to impress others have made wedding more about others and less about love.

These are some things couples shouldn’t be afraid of doing when they want to do a wedding.

1. DON’T BE AFRAID TO DO WHAT YOU WANT

Your biggest regret will looking back at your wedding and wishing you did what you wanted and not what others want. Families and friends might try to influence your wedding decisions, but it all boils down to you and your spouse, and you both should do what you long to do and not get cajoled into making your day about others.

2. DON’T BE AFRAID OF WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE

Hosting an average wedding these days is expensive, and many couples who can’t afford them tend to lose sleep over this. This shouldn’t be so; it’ll be unwise to go broke over a wedding and suffer the repercussions when married. Rather than focus on what you don’t have, put your mind on what you have and make do with that.

3. WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING

I’ve seen people who look at what others are doing before doing theirs; in the sense that they let what others do decide what they should do. Let your wedding be about you and your spouse; forget about the unnecessary glamour and attention (especially if you can’t afford it). Marriage isn’t a competition and your wedding shouldn’t be too.

4. WHAT PEOPLE WILL THINK

People are always going to say what they want to say and they are going to think what they want, but you should learn to develop a tough skin, because you’ll face worse after the wedding proper.

Are you about to wed? Then don’t let fears make your decision for you.
