Somalia has performed wonders at the ongoing Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Under 17 championship.
The Somalia U17 national team defeated Uganda U17 on penalties in the semis of the CECAFA U17 match played on Wednesday afternoon.
At the end of the 90 minutes, the match was tied 1-1.
Uganda scored first before Somalia equalized.
The match then went to extra time before Somalia won the penalty shootout 8-7.
Consequently, Somalia now moves to the final. They also qualify for the U17 Confederation of African Football (CAF) championships, which take place in Algeria next year.
The U17 team is the first football national side from Somalia to qualify for the finals of any major footballing tournament.
