Puntland state denies that it is part of the ongoing battles in Las Anoud

 



Garowe - The Ministry of the Interior of the Puntland state government in Somalia condemned what it described as the massacre committed by Somaliland forces in the city of “Lasanod” and the surrounding areas.

In a press release, the ministry expressed its denunciation of describing the residents of LasAnoud and their traditional leaders as terrorists.

Puntland denied that it was part of the battles taking place in “Las Anoud” and stated that the war is between the city’s residents who are defending themselves and the Somaliland forces that have been holding them, according to the statement, for 15 years, through planned killings, arrests and other violations to force them to secede at gunpoint and prevent The unity of the Somali people.

Puntland state indicated that it welcomed self-determination by the people of the region and promised to appoint a committee to work with the local population on emergency and humanitarian assistance.

The Puntland government called on international organizations to provide immediate assistance to the people displaced by the war in Las Anoud and the injured.

Puntland called on the Somaliland administration to immediately stop killing civilians and withdraw its forces from Lasanod and other areas.
