A tragic incident took place in the Dar es Salaam district of Muduj province, where 16-year-old Nimo Abdulweli Osman was brutally raped and stabbed to death.
Her father, Abdul Wali Othman, accused her husband of conspiring against his wife in this heinous crime.
Nimo Abdel Wali was married to one of the defendants in the rape and murder case. The father said that his daughter was kidnapped by a group led by her husband from his house while he and her mother were away at the time.
Speaking to the media, her father revealed the horrific details of the attack, saying that his daughter had been stabbed so badly 60 times that she had such deep wounds that she later succumbed. The father now demands justice for his daughter.
Three men were arrested and transferred to the main prison in Galkayo on 26 April. It is scheduled to begin determining the status of the case.
Incidents of rape involving young girls and children are on the rise in Somalia, especially in Puntland. Cultural practices have been criticized for protecting offenders in such cases, resulting in a lack of justice for victims and their families.
